Book
Trust was founded in 2000 as a private program of the Serimus
Foundation, and became an independent 501(c)(3) in 2006. Book Trust was originally the
idea of a Serimus Trustee who remembers her
classmates' excitement when Scholastic book
orders arrived in class every month, but noticed
there were children who were excluded from the
celebration. Book Trust was designed to remove
those economic barriers and ensure all children
have access to the joy of choosing and owning
books...
It turns out that by doing so, they're also ensured of having a brighter future.

GROWTH:
Every
year since its inception in 2000, Book Trust
has added locations, classrooms, and students.
After being piloted in three Colorado classrooms in spring 2000, the program
has steadily expanded. Each year, we maintain
our support of previously participating schools,
and grow into their succeeding grade-level classrooms.
Book Trust is currently growing exponentially! Thanks to our donors, we grew by nearly 280% during this school year, to serve 115 schools in six states - California, Colorado, Hawai'i, New Hampshire, New York, and Texas. Washington and Florida are on the horizon!
