September 19th is 'Talk Like a Pirate Day' which got us thinking... What better way to bring new life to story time than by adding in some new voices to your story-time narration?
Of course you can do a fun, classic pirate voice (it has its own holiday for a reason, right?), or maybe try on a foreign accent! How about a robot or a chicken? What would a monster sound like? You can draw inspiration from their favorite TV characters or stuffed animals and invite them to join in the fun!
What would a cowboy sound like reading a book? Or a sleepy cow? There are limitless possibilities!
The best part is it doesn’t have to be perfect. Your child is sure to love whatever silly voice you use. They’ll appreciate the change of pace in their routine and you’ll probably get a good laugh as well!
To celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day, we’ll leave you with a kid-friendly pirate joke:
What’s a pirate’s favorite letter?
You might think it’s ‘Rrrr,’ but his first love is the ‘C!’
Happy Reading (& acting)!
