Very special thanks to our guest contributors, Kate and Justin Rose. The Kate & Justin Rose Foundation has been supporting Book Trust and students in need in Orlando, FL for many years.
Reading together nightly is tremendously important to our family, and we’ve made time to read with our children since they were born. Experts say that children need to hear a thousand stories before they can learn to read themselves!
So while we read together nightly, on “Three Book Thursday” we switch it up a little. Leo and Lottie each get to choose three books for the nightly read. They also get to decide whether Justin or I read to them, or they read to each other. When they choose to read to each other, not only are they practicing reading, but it also helps Leo get in the habit of encouraging and coaching his younger sister.
Give it a try!
Here are some “Three Book Thursday” favorites in our house:
Malala’s Magic Pencil by Malala Yousafzai
The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr
There’s a Nightmare In My Closet by Mercer Mayer
Drama by Raina Telgemeier
Pinky The Invisible Dragon by Ronald Meade
Everything’s Amazing by Tom Gates
